Just another form of procrastination....

I knit when I should be studying. I knit when I should be sleeping. I knit when my to-do list runneth over. If I have a $1.49 left to my name, you better believe I will be buying some sugar n' cream cotton yarn. I'm Knitty McKnitterson, and I'm a knit-aholic.

knitting frenzy

Monday, July 30, 2007

knitty mcknitterson is baaaack! oh yeah! since school's out for summer, (you know you're singing the song in your head. don't deny it.) i've landed a temp job doing the exact same thing, at the exact same place, with the exact same people that i worked with before quitting to return to school full time. i loved where i worked, but i couldn't see myself getting anywhere without my edumacation. anyways, it's nice to be back for awhile. i basically answer approx. 30 phone calls a day, and because my bosses rock, they don't mind if i occupy my time with knitting. so here's what i've cranked out thus far.

first up is a toboggan i made using noro silver thaw. the pattern is based on the kittyville hat from stitch n' bitch.

also, it is with great pleasure for me to announce that i'm no longer a felting virgin. i bought a nice cloche hat pattern from etsy and used lamb's pride wool/mohair yarn. it took one skein each of the main color and contrasting color.

lastly, and my favorite, (i do hope for better pictures soon) is this purty head wrap i made following this pattern. i used some more of the cotton/rayon yarn i bought via etsy. it's also the same yarn i used to knit doodles' tank top.

On life and knitting

Saturday, July 14, 2007

Some time has passed, and I'd like to think I'm doing quite well considering the circumstances. For starters, I'm knitting again! I just finished a matching hair kerchief for my friend and her daughter. I promise to post a pic soon.

oops! gotta go. be back to post more soon.

Where I Am

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

this blog is taking yet another turn away from knitting. i've been putting off this update for a while, but i guess the time is now to come to terms with my new life. for starters, mr. and mrs. mcknitterson are no more. following an amicable separation, the newly-single miss mcknitterson has moved to a different city and has chosen to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

that is all for now. perhaps i will feel like posting more in the next few days, but it's doubtful. i am knitting again though....

They're alive!

well, here we are at the end of april, and wouldn't ya know? my plants are still alive. my peonies are starting to peep through the soil which means that the roots haven't rotted out after all. whew! my rosebush is growing beautifully. in fact, i'm going to take advantage of this nice weather and prune and fertilize it today. my pansies on the other hand are hanging in there, but they've sure taken a beating by this crazy weather.

Interesting.

Where's the knitting?

doodles' grand-dad spoils her rotten. he frequently sends her gifts, and she was so excited to receive the t.m.x. elmo. as much as the little bugger annoys me (elmo, that is), i have to admit, he's pretty cute and makes the mcknitterson's laugh.

doodles actually *wanted* me to take pics of her and elmo today. she kept posing with him and saying, "deez," which means 'cheese' in doodle-eeze. you've probably noticed that i have horrible timing with pics. oh well.

lastly, husband scanned doodles' pic with the easter bunny. so, here she is, oozing with glee.
you're probably wondering if i've been knitting lately. the answer is, yes. you see, i have a bad habit of starting a project, getting 3/4ths of the way finished, and then starting something else. i promise i'll post pics of some finished objects in the near future.

They met....

Wednesday, April 4, 2007

Doodles is in love. She has been pining over this bunny for several weeks, and today her dream came true. Look how excited she is! I promise I'll post a better quality pic soon. This is just a picture of a picture.

Growing Stuff!

Husband and I really want to enjoy our patio this summer, so tonight we bought a table and some chairs. I'm also giving container gardening another shot as you can see in the following photos. In the first pic, is my new rosebush with one of the two peony bulbs I bought and freshly planted in the background. In the other two photos, I planted some pansies that Husband bought especially for me. Even though I don't have anything growing on the trellis, I think the whole setup is absolutely gorgeous.

my climbing rose bush is dead. :*(

daddy and doodles built a table...

this piece goes here...

time to test it out...
it works! thanks, grandad!

monday was a nice day for bubbles.

"is that a different pot?" you may be asking. why yes it is. long story short, it broke and had to be replaced. it's very loved. :)

Notice the old pot in the background? I'm gonna try to turn it into a strawberry planter. *crossing fingers*

we've adopted!

Monday, March 26, 2007

Mr. & Mrs. McKnitterson would like to introduce the newest members of their household. The first addition is a Dracaena Massangeana Cane. NASA has determined this plant to be excellent at removing indoor air pollutants. The plant on the bottom is a Madagascar Dragon plant. Names to follow shortly.

Green Thumb

i love freecycle. a very kind woman offered a miniature climbing rose bush, and i gladly (and quickly) accepted. after meeting her upon pick-up, she even offered some clippings from her houseplants. so, it looks like next weekend i'll be taking her up on her generosity and giving planting another go. i really enjoy getting my hands in the dirt. doodle-bug enjoyed it as well, but because my hands were yucky, i was unable to take pics of the process.

*I think I can. I think I can.*

it's nice to finally be able to knit without looking. i was able to make great progress on the baby kimono while studying for my biology exam. right now, i'm waiting for it dry from blocking. it's like waiting for paint to dry.

*Love*

Love is....

P for Progress

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

my mom's best friend's daughter (got that?) is about to have a baby any day now. looking for any opportunity to knit, i decided to break out of my comfort zone and try a wee bit more difficult pattern. so, voila! here are pics of the mason dixon knitting "heartbreakingly cute baby kimono" pattern-in-progress.

ok, can't help myself. here's an incredibly cute picture of doodle-bug
