Just another form of procrastination....

I knit when I should be studying. I knit when I should be sleeping. I knit when my to-do list runneth over. If I have a $1.49 left to my name, you better believe I will be buying some sugar n' cream cotton yarn. I'm Knitty McKnitterson, and I'm a knit-aholic.

our kitchen looks brand new!!!!

when we moved into the luxurious graduate and family housing, our cabinets were a far cry from fabulous. well, the slumlords pulled through and we now have brand new cabinets, counters, water heater, and sink! it's sparkling! you have to see the before and after pics to believe it.

AFTER (thank you vanna. oops. i mean doodle-bug):

the scarf that never ends

As promised, here is a pic of "the world's most boring scarf" in progress. knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, purl 3. going crazy yet?
at this rate, it'll be ready just in time for fall.

i ordered this gorgeous cotton/rayon blend of yarn from myrrhwood farm via etsy.com. the problem is, i really want to make doodle-bug a light-weight sweater for the spring, but haven't had any luck with patterns. it sure is shiny. *sigh*

the death of me

i blame my local yarn store. i'm now the proud (and very broke) owner of a yarn winder and swift.

the yarn winder:

and the intriguing swift:

the great thing about the swift is now i don't have to spend 30 minutes winding one single skein of yarn. in fact, i wound all of these in less than an hour.

recycled sari silk:

and lastly, time for a doodle-bug fix:

one of my gal pals wants me to knit this scarf for her. (photo and pattern from knitty.com) i'm trying. honest. the thing is, the pattern's really boring, and i'm having a hard time staying motivated. *sigh* i like the colors she's chosen, so i guess i'll keep plugging away. hopefully i'll be able to post the finished product soon.

Two for Tuesday...as in my second post of the day.

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

I couldn't help it, but I love this malabrigo yarn. Therefore, I have to post a pic of the hat in progress. I'm knitting on 16" size 7 circular needles and using malabrigo worsted merino in "Vaa." Ahh. Like knitting with butter. So soft.

P.S. I've gotten two of my three test scores back today. So far, two A's. Yay!

Well, Doodle Bug's 2nd birthday came and went. The day was beyond interesting. First, our slumlords gave us the wrong key to the free community room, so I had to call the emergency maintenence people to come unlock the door. *Hmpf!* Next, the google search for the phone number to the nearest Domino's was actually for the one furthest away. Of course, we found that out when husband went to the closest Domino's to pick them up. Luckily, they were able to make 8 large pizzas immediately and the day was saved.

Because Doodle Bug is obsessed with all things bunny, I made her a special bunny cake. This was the first time she's ever had cake and honestly, she wasn't that impressed. Well, without further ado, here are the pics of the celebration.

This Elmo toy was the toy of death. Seriously, Doodle Bug was 'bout ready to hurt someone if they dared to touch it.

I love this pic. Doodle Bug's trying to tickle my brother's newest arrival's toes. So cute.

I made it!

Whew! My tests are over, and I think I passed. *crossing my fingers* I hope to post more pics of works in progress soon. I'm wanting to make this awesome hat, but first I have to learn some new techniques.

Moving off topic...

My Doodle-Bug turns two on Monday. I can't believe how big my baby girl is getting. Anyways, she loves, loves, loves bunnies so my plan is to make her a bunny-shaped cake. This year is especially special (hehe) because husband and I have abstained from giving her sugary junk food for her first two years of life. Seriously. A lot of people, including certain family members *cough cough, aunt mary* think we're crazy, but I like how she's always asking for bananas, yogurt and "Opples." I think we're doing the right thing. Doodle-Bug may not eat sugar, but she sure is sweet.

Just for fun, the first two pics of my Doodle-Bug were taken a year ago. The bottom pic of her sleeping was taken a couple of weeks ago. Notice the difference in hair? And yes, I know her sleeper is inside out. Doodle-Bug prefers the buff, but it doesn't work at nap time.

Ta da!

Like any addiction, too much can be a bad thing. I'm suffering in school because of my knitting "problem" so I'm gonna cut back for a while, though not completely. I need to focus on my three tests on Thursday, and then make an honest effort to keep up on my reading. As promised, here are some of my knitted goodies from when I first started knitting the day after Christmas '06 until now.
This green "thing" is my first project attempt. Pretty sad, eh? hehe. I don't have the heart to frog it. *Sigh*

This is my third scarf attempt. I think I've had my fill of fun fur.

Calorimetry from Knitty.com
I really had fun with this pattern.
P.S. I used Malabrigo 100% Merino yarn
in Purple Mystery. Yum yum!

This pattern required seaming. Not so much a fan. Anyway, I used Cascade yarn.

This is my Doodle-Bug modeling my first pair of mittens.
Once again, Cascade yarn.

My first blog ever!
